It’s been incredible to see how resilient our art community here has been. Coming together not just to talk logistics, but about everything from what it’s like to (or not to) make work during this time, to extra snacks we buy ☺️ So thankful for the coming togetherness instead of staying apartness that can sometimes be found in art circles.

🌟 Off to gallery sit today! Last time I met a wonderful character of a gentleman who helped start the underground art movement in New York, and was an art critic for The Austin Chronicle. He said something I haven’t stopped thinking about. 🌟 He said he’d always go twice to a show: first at the opening and then when the crowd was gone. It let him see the works that were overshadowed by the flashier ones. While easiest to see at first, the louder ones lost their impact the second time around. 🌟 Was fun to have words put to something I had noticed as well. And a great reminder that it isn’t just about doing a song and dance bc others are, but saying and doing what’s true to you. Those are the things that last.

From juried shows to a record-breaking EAST Austin Studio Tour to new collectors and a surprise feature in The Austin Chronicle, this year was more than I could’ve asked for!

After making final adjustments last night, heading out for our last weekend of the EAST Austin Studio Tour! I’m showing with a bunch of talented artists in the city including some of my favorite sculptors in the city @suzannewyss @gdwright_art along with @thomascook_art @alicia_philley @thachary_binx and more. Also, sangria cider by the generous @eastciders. Sat and Sun 12-6pm. Bolm Studios 5305 Bolm Rd, #10.
